Strange deadly crash

Helmuth Koinigg (Wenen, Austria) died due a crash on the Watkins Glen circuit during the 1974 American Grand Prix. For the Austrian it was only his second start in a Grand Prix . As he approached the braking zone of a corner called The Toe, his Surtees' suspension failed, sending it straight into the crash barrier. The speed at which Koinigg crashed was not that high, and normally he should have come out of the accident without too much damage. But the guardrail was placed too high and the car drove underneath. Koinigg did not survive the blow, because of the way the car slid under the guardrail he was unfortunally beheaded. there are many detailed pictures on the internet but out of respect I chose not to use them.
